A rustic-style building surrounded by the silence of nature with a cellar on the ground floor and tavern on the upper floor. The terrace offers a breathtaking view of the valley behind Lake Trasimeno.


The cottage overlooks the entire hillside. The house wine is produced in the cellar, using artisanal methods and great respect for nature. Up in the tavern, these wines can be enoyed together with traditional dishes. The land where the tavern and winery stand was once a farm where hare were raised. We set them all free as soon as we purchased the property, thus giving birth to the name, Podere Libera Lepre (Free Hare) CM Centumbrie. The fields on the farm are home to vegetable gardens, olive trees, grains and so much unspoiled nature. As on most traditional farms in the area, on Libera Lepre we raise farmyard animals, goats, pigs and some other livestock..

They are free-ranging and live in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature. They help us to be sustainable, to carry out our "zero waste" policy by providing a use for our production byproducts, such as bran from processed grains or vegetable scraps from our kitchens, which are all used as tasty part of the animals’ diet.

The property has plenty of parking as well as an elevator. We are in the verdant hills of Umbria, a five-minute drive from some of the beaches at Lake Trasimeno, 15 minutes from Magione and 20 minutes from the center of Perugia.

Rediscovering the true flavors of the land.

THE MENU

Handmade pasta, generous portions, authentic flavors, embers and a wood-fired oven. The raw materials come from our organic farm: extra virgin olive oil pressed in our own mill, handmade bread with fresh yeast, stone-ground flours from grains grown in the microclimate of the lake area, seasonal vegetables from our garden, legumes and fresh meat from animals raised in the wild. All this makes up our menu, in addition to locally sourced products from carefully selected small businesses. The menu is seasonal and linked to traditional Umbrian recipes expertly cooked by our chef.

THE WINES

The wine production is small, precious and natural and is used as the house wine at our tavern. In addition to the CM Centumbrie wines, you will also find a short wine list of labels selected by us—natural and otherwise—but all from small, mostly local, wineries.
